Main target of the project Macia Social Center
is the reduction of poverty and an improvement of living conditions for the
most vulnerable groups of orphans children, single parent women and unemployed young people
in the district of Bilene in the south of Mocambique.
The project is based on an integrative aproach, combining on the center area the
establishment of two social families with a training facility for income generating
abilities and skills. The current
concept contains training courses for computer application in the
rapidly growing tourism industry, courses for handcraft skills, and basic training
courses for state-of-the-art
clay construction technology with ambient air drying. All these education
branches are based on the training of local experts who continue with the
courses as trainers. After the development phase which is financed by donation,
the orphans social families shall be financed by a foster parent system, while the
training part is intended to become self-sustaining with income from fees for training
courses and from sales of handcraft products.
